Configure National Weather Service alert sources

Define the geography

1. Add a state, territory, forecast-zone, or county-zone code supported by weather.gov.
2. Associate the source with only the licensed locations inside that geography.
3. Start with high-impact warning types and expand only under a documented policy. Point sources are intentionally unavailable: some zone-based NWS alerts have no polygon, so matching a nationwide snapshot to one coordinate could silently omit a warning.

Review before enabling

1. Save the source disabled.
2. Run a source check and review returned event types, geography, status, and timestamps.
3. Have a second authorized administrator confirm mapping and filters.
4. Enable monitoring and review source health after network or geography changes.

Handle provider updates

DMTG CAP preserves the authoritative provider payload and follows relevant updates and cancellations. A temporary provider failure does not erase an existing alert.
